Recognition Programme

It's time for recognition...

Our Recognition Programme is aimed at our Bronze or Silver level members who want to become a Silver level member  or reinforce their Silver membership status. Our Programme is designed to develop you as a ‘big’ team leader and facilitator.

Silver 1 - Awareness

Awareness of the implicit tensions that exist between different personality types is essential for people who have to lead and facilitate the work of others. This module teaches you not only how to recognise the underlying dynamics that make teamwork so difficult to achieve in practice, but also how to intervene to resolve these difficulties and create truly productive teams. You will come out of this module with a clear understanding of what you need to do to facilitate successful teamworking.

Silver 2 - Learning

A capacity to learn quickly and efficiently is a distinguishing factor of successful teams in all types of organisation and sphere. Acquiring and maintaining this capacity in practice is, however, rare and is usually dependent on the presence of skilful leadership and facilitation. Knowing how to co-ordinate others’ efforts into an effective learning and problem-solving process is a skill in itself. This module teaches that skill. It shows how to set up and sustain an ongoing learning spiral. It will give you practical techniques on how to spot the different types of obstacle that undermine the learning process, and how to intervene to maintain the momentum of that process by re-focusing and re-energising it, when necessary.

Silver 3 - Skills

Management concepts, models and frameworks are important but not enough. Leadership and facilitation are ultimately skills, and to be deployed in practice, they have to be learned and practised. This module focuses on the underpinning skill for all managerial interactions, the skill of constructing and conducting useful and productive dialogues with people, both individually and in groups. Too many managers take language for granted, under-estimating the impact – both positive and negative – of what they say and how they say it. You will come out of this module with a fuller repertoire for intervening appropriately to influence people and discussions, and to provide teams with real leadership in real time.

Silver 4 - Presence

Another distinguishing feature of effective teams is the apparent ease with which they can redeploy their collective efforts as circumstances change around them. Once again the contribution of the leader is pivotal. This module is designed to give leaders and facilitators the repertoire of clues and indicators, plus the personal vigilance, to be able to re-focus people’s attention and energies on to what matters, when it matters. You will come away with a new understanding of the challenges of performance improvement and the management of change, which will enable you to make your presence as a leader felt in the most timely and appropriate ways.

Silver 5 - Thinking

One of the reasons why effective teams are so highly prized is their capacity to think more powerfully than any individual could do. Yet the proposition that ‘more heads are better than one’ does not come true automatically. In practice multiple minds often produce more noise rather than more progress. One of the key skills for contemporary leaders and facilitators is to understand and be able to engage and elicit the necessary quality of thinking from groups of people to ensure that the results amount to more rather than less than the sum of the parts. This module will provide you with techniques for playing this vital and very commonly neglected role.
